How do you choose the right cabinet door colour?
No colour should be chosen in isolation. How it looks depends on the lighting, the size of the room, your countertop, your flooring, and the mood you want to create.
Consider the room's lighting and size
Light colours reflect more light, which is a real plus in a small room with few windows. Dark colours add contrast and depth. There are no hard-and-fast rules, though: a dark vanity can look great in a small bathroom as long as the walls and tile stay light.
Coordinate your cabinets with other materials
Your kitchen cabinet colour should work with your countertop, backsplash, flooring, walls, and hardware. Compare undertones rather than colour names: a white with a yellow undertone can look dull next to a cool white quartz, while a warm greige pairs beautifully with honey oak floors.

Finishes
Which finish should you choose for your cabinets?
Colour and finish are two separate choices. The same shade can look quite different depending on its surface:
Matte
Minimal reflection for a soft, contemporary look.
Glossy
More shine and reflected light, but fingerprints show up more easily around the handles.
Textured
A tactile surface that often mimics wood and adds depth you can feel.
